Virginia Tech Graduation Photos | Virginia Tech Grad Photographer
Graduating from Virginia Tech is such a huge accomplishment and documenting this season with graduation photos is one of my favorite types of sessions every year.
As a Virginia Tech grad photographer based in the New River Valley, I photograph multiple graduation sessions on campus each season and one of the things I love most is helping each graduate create a session that feels personal to their college experience. Whether that means classic cap-and-gown portraits at the most iconic campus landmarks or incorporating outfits, accessories and locations that reflect your personality and time at Tech, these sessions are all about celebrating everything you’ve accomplished.
The Best Virginia Tech Grad Photo Locations
One of the reasons Virginia Tech graduation sessions are so special is because campus offers such a beautiful variety of locations all within walking distance of each other.
Burruss Hall
No Virginia Tech graduation session feels complete without photos at Burruss Hall. The iconic architecture and staircase create the perfect classic Virginia Tech backdrop and are always a must-have for traditional graduation portraits. This is typically where we capture some of the more formal cap-and-gown images to really highlight the accomplishment of graduating from Virginia Tech.
Lane Stadium & the Practice Field
For so many students, football Saturdays and memories surrounding Lane Stadium are a huge part of the Virginia Tech experience.
The practice field area and stadium surroundings make such a fun location for grad photos, especially for students who want to incorporate school spirit into their gallery. These spots feel a little more relaxed and energetic and are perfect for adding personality into your session.
The Pylons
The War Memorial Pylons are another iconic Virginia Tech location and always photograph beautifully. The symbolism and history behind this area make it especially meaningful for graduation portraits.
Torgersen Bridge
Torgersen Bridge gives a completely different feel from some of the more traditional campus spots and is always a great addition to a gallery. The architecture and light around this area work beautifully for more modern, personality-driven portraits.
Mixing Formal & Personality-Driven Photos
One thing I always recommend for Virginia Tech grad sessions is keeping things simple while still incorporating variety throughout your gallery.
Most graduates will do a mix of traditional cap-and-gown photos along with images featuring their dress or outfit paired with their stole, cords or other graduation details. It keeps the session flowing naturally without spending too much time on full outfit changes while still giving plenty of variety in the final gallery. Feel free to bring a bottle of champagne, your pup, a few friends or anything else you’d like to incorporate.
And for students wanting to add a little extra personality, incorporating a Virginia Tech jersey or Hokies gear at the practice field is always such a fun touch. Those little details help tell the story of your time at Tech and make your session feel uniquely yours.
Celebrating Such a Huge Accomplishment
Graduating from Virginia Tech represents years of hard work, late nights, friendships, traditions and memories made on campus. These sessions are about documenting a season of life you’ll never experience again. The places you walked every day, the traditions that became second nature, the excitement of what’s next! It all deserves to be remembered.
If you’re looking for a Virginia Tech grad photographer, I’d love to help create a session that feels true to your experience at Tech while capturing all of the iconic campus locations along the way.
